Community Supported Agriculture
2012 Season Starts May 18th!

Why Join A CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, a model of local food distribution which connects you directly to the farmer that grows your food. In this model, you purchase a share of the harvest which is delivered to you weekly throughout the season. When you become a member you are strengthening the partnership between the farm and your community, and directly influencing your local economy. What does this actually mean? It means we buy our fuel and animal feed here, shop here, and hire local labor. It means your food dollars turn into seed and equipment dollars, or building supply dollars. Because we go out of our way to buy locally, this turns into support of other small businesses and local jobs. The produce you receive is fresh, nutritious, and hasn't been stored for weeks or trucked hundreds (often thousands) of miles.

Why Is Old House CSA Different?
We keep it very local serving primarily Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo Valley residents. Our philosophy is to make healthy, fresh, organic food affordable and available to a wide range of budgets, which is reflected in our pricing. Our pick-up sites are staffed to ensure your produce gets to you in the best possible condition, towards which we take extra steps such as keeping delicate greens cold during the hot summer months until you arrive. We feel the best way to gauge the satisfaction of our members is to see and talk to you each week, allowing for feedback or questions about the produce. New this year is the choice to receive text message reminders on the day of pick-up, plus some great options if you have vacation plans or cannot pick up your box for some reason. For details see our FAQ’s. We appreciate and value each of our subscribers and will always be courteous and responsive to your questions and concerns.

What Can You Expect?
Each week you will receive a box filled with freshly harvested, certified organic produce as well as some wonderful local products that you may add-on at any time. Each season brings it's own favorites, like spring onions and late summer melons, and as a member you can enjoy each week with a variety of crops at their peak! For a complete list of our seasonal offerings which you may find in your box please see the What We Grow page.

CSA FAQ’s

How do I pick up my box?
Each week you will pick up your box at the drop site you chose. You will need to bring a bag or box to take your produce home with you.

What if I can’t pick up my box?

Unfortunately we cannot give refunds on missed boxes. There are other options with advance notice (see below). Otherwise we encourage you to have a relative or friend pick up your box for you if an unforeseen last minute situation arises.

What are my "advance notice" options if I can't pick up my box?
Option 1- If you are scheduled to pick up your box on Friday, you may request by phone or email to pick up on Saturday instead. We must receive your request before 4pm the day of pick up. Once we transport your box to the pick up site this option is not available.
Option 2 - If you are scheduled to pick up your box on either Friday or Saturday, you may request by phone or email a $16/$25 credit at our Scotts Valley farmers' market booth to be used before the end of the season. Very important: You must make your request by Thurday evening. No Friday morning requests will be accepted.

What if I missed the season start date but I still want to sign up? You can join at any time, availability provided, and we will prorate the price for you.

Can I choose the items I receive?
By becoming a member you are sharing in the seasonal crops that our farm grows, and we plan quantities and crop selection for the weekly boxes ahead of time. Therefore, we are not able to create custom boxes.

Is all your produce organic?
Yes. We are certified organic by CCOF.

Can I try this out for a short time to see if I like it?
We offer the option to join for 8 week blocks.
